What happens when Punjab’s most eligible and powerful bachelor weds and sends out invites - running into a couple of thousands - for his grand reception? Everyone turns up and that’s exactly how it was at the much-hyped and planned-for wedding lunch reception of Bikramjit Singh Majithia, better know as the brother-in-law of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Earlier this week, Majithia tied the knot with Ganieve, daughter of a Delhi-based industrialist. The reception party for the newly-weds was hosted at a farmhouse in Village Seonk and preparations had been on full swing ever since. Given the number of people invited, it was expected to have been a chaotic affair but the strong contingent of the men in khaki made sure there were zilch hindrances.

Among those who arrived to bless the couple were Punjab Governor SF Rodrigues and his wife Jean Rodrigues, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala, senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Nabha, Lal Singh, Ajit Inder Singh Moofar, Avtar Brar and Amarjit Singh Samra. Conspicuous by their absence were some close relatives of the family like Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Food and Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon.

Setting the mood was singer-actor Harbhajan Mann who belted out Punjabi numbers. Also present were singers Hans Raj Hans and Sukhwinder Singh. The groom’s father S S Majithia was seen on his toes all through greeting the guests along with Harsimrat Kaur Badal who clearly outshone the new bride with her turquoise lehenga and jewellery to match.
The Deputy CM also chose to stay away from his statement style and opted for a chic suit in blue which he offset with a yellow tie and turban. The bride, Ganieve wore a deep plum lehenga and heirloom kundan jewellery while the groom looked natty dressed in a muted coloured achkan. Interestingly, the Majithias had a visitor’s register kept at the venue where the guests left their comments and best wishes for the newly weds. Now, that would be worth a read!

Actress Katrina Kaif has shed her coy and demure image, with a bang. Promotional photos of her upcoming film De Dana Dan show the actress looking really sexy in a clingy wet sari in an intense lovemaking song-sequence with actor Akshay Kumar. And the question on everyone’s mind is, “Does this mean she doesn’t bother anymore about Salman Khan’s possessive diktats?” It may be recalled that Salman, in a recent interview had said ‘Upar se thoda upar aur neeche se thosa neeche, that’s how I like girls,” referring to how he likes his women properly covered up. “Katrina seems to be on a rebellious spree here,” says a filmmaker on anonymity.

Kaif, on her part, is pumped up about the song. “I am excited. It is for the first time that I have managed to match up to Akshay’s energy level,” she said. When asked about the sensuous dressing she said, “It is the typical wet song that every Bollywood heroine does at some point in her career,” adding that she got tired of changing her wet chiffon saris, which kept shrinking after every sequence.

“Katrina has always maintained in her interviews that she’s a jeans and tee kind of a person. She’s clearly trying to make a statement here,” says Mallika Sen, a media professional. “She seems to be trying to break her innocent and cute image and to get critics to take her seriously. Be it in Ajab Prem…, De Dana Dan or Rajneeti, she’s attempting variety in her looks and acting,” says an industry person choosing to stay anonymous.

Sources from the crew of the movie, which releases this Friday, reveal that Akshay and Katrina shot the seductive song without any hesitation. Later, there was a debate among the cast and crew on whether to use it as a promotional song but Akshay advised against it saying it may give a wrong impression.

SHILPA SHETTY MARRIES RAJ KUNDRA

London-based businessman Raj Kundra left in a chariot Sunday evening to marry his actress fiancee Shilpa Shetty here in this Maharashtra hill station.

Kundra left Amrit Villa, located about five minutes away from Bawa Villa, where the wedding is going to be held, in a chariot driven by two horses.

Clad in a maroon sherwani with golden embroidery, Kundra was sporting a turban with his face veiled by a sehra (string of pearls).

He was also holding a sword in his hand, as per Indian tradition.

Noticed dancing in the baraat (marriage procession) were actors Rohit Roy and Jackky Bhagnani.

Half the road was blocked by security guards by ropes on both sides of the chariot while the police were trying to navigate the traffic on the other half.

Before the marriage, it was her wedding card, which created a buzz for it's look and content. Both Shilpa and Raj want to have a royal marriage so they insisted that their wedding card should reflect the same.

Well known designer Tarun Tahiliani is the man who will dress up Shilpa for this royal marriage. He has designed a special wedding gown for her. Her beau Raj Kundra has chosen to wear creations by Shantanu and Nikhil.

In fact Shilpa expressed her feelings to her fans by writing on her blogs just sometimes back. She wrote, "To all those who want to know how I am feeling, I just want to say I'm going through a lot of mixed feelings - happiness, excitement, nervousness, just like any bride to be and sadness as well. "

Both Shilpa and Raj have been dating since 2007 and Shilpa termed her marriage as a very significant moment in her life.

"Honestly it still hasn't sunk in completely, it's a strange emotion, can't describe it The only consolation is that I'm tying the knot with Raj - a man who lets me be myself and doesn't want me or my life to change and that erases premarital jitters, " she wrtoe.

But Shilpa tried to overcome all her nervousness in the Sangeet ceremony, which was held in Khandala on Saturday. She herself danced on a Bollywood number from the film 'Chandni'.

GURDAS MAAN'S CHAK JAWANA TO RELEASE IN DECEMBER

MADHURI DIXIT TO PLAY INDIRA GANDHI

Asian-American filmmaker Krishna Shah is set to make a biopic on Indira Gandhi and has roped in Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit to play the role of India's first and only woman prime minister.

Titled "Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story", the film was announced on the late prime minister's 92nd birth anniversary Thursday. The pre-production of the film has already been done. It will go on floors in mid 2010 and be shot in India, Britain, US and Russia.

"I have followed Indira Gandhi's life through media, books and critics. It's such an exciting and dramatic story. I want the future generation to know her story. A whole new generation has grown and matured since her assassination and through this film I hope to connect people with their history and legacy," Shah said in a press release.

Apart from Madhuri, Bollywood actors Dharmendra, Abhay Deol and Nana Patekar have been approached to play Motilal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan respectively.

Hollywood star Tom Hanks is likely to be a part of the film as former US president Lyndon Baines Johnson. Tommy Lee Jones is also being approached for a pivotal role in the film.

"Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story" will be made in two parts.

While the first part will unfold the story from her birth to her emergence as "Maa Durga" (goddess of War) after her victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war, the second instalment will cover her political journey from the rise of her son Sanjay Gandhi to her assassination in 1984, Shah said.

Shah has been doing research for the project since two decades. He has read books on her, interviewed politicians, journalists, bureaucrats, writers, military men and her contemporaries to dig information.

KRK JUST A GUEST,WILL LEAVE BIG BOSS 3 ON SUNDAY

KAMAL KHAN has made a comeback in the Bigg Boss season 3. Director Kamal Rashid Khan, who was kicked out of the bigg boss house because of his misbehavior and action, once again had made an entry in the Big Boss house on Thursday, November 19. But if sources are to be believed Kamal Khan is not a wild card entry and will be leaving the Bigg Boss House on Sunday, November 22.

It is believed that KRK had been asked by the channel to purposefully mislead the inmates inot believing that he's making a wild card entry and thus provoke the housemates and create a bitter drama and add masala to the show.

On Sunday, it would be revealed that Kamaal Khan is not a contestant and just a visitor and was not eligible to win Bigg Boss. Kamal who has entered to create a drama already started it by asking Rohit to vacant his bed and move into the ladies room. Even German Playboy fame contestant Clauda and Aditi Gowitrikar were seen into tears on spotting him making an entry for the second time in the house. However Kamal has refrained from saying anything vulgar and bad till now. But its not long that he would again get back to his original personality and create a big drama in the house.

Also Kamal Khan is quite busy with his second movie Deshdrohi 2 - 26/11 war in Mumbai which is being directed by Sanjay Jha Mastan. The movie is based on the terror attack on Mumbai's Taj Mahal hotel on November 26 last year. Needless to say, he plays the lead in the film.

KRK BACK IN BIG BOSS 3

Kamal Rashid Khan, who was evicted from the Bigg Boss house because of his aggressive and violent behavior with his housemates, will be re-entering the Bigg Boss house as wild card entry. “Yes I am going tonight into the Bigg Boss house as the wild card entry.” confirms KRK.

According to him TRP’s of the channel went down after his exit. Thus the channel decided to get him back. “The channel got its highest TRP’s when I was in Bigg Boss but the day I went out, TRP’s became less. Now the channel approached me again and asked me to be there. I am sure this time the TRP’s will be higher than ever.”

KRK informed us that he followed Bigg Boss even after his eviction. So what is his strategy now? He said, “I will enter the house in a rocket. I don’t know whether the housemates will be happy, sad, or surprised by my entry but I promise cent per cent entertainment to my audience.”

He further explained that his entry will mean trouble for Vindu, Rohit and Raju who have been punished by Bigg Boss. “I am going to beat these three idiots. The audience will see how I will set them straight. They need to learn a lesson and I am the hero who will teach it to them.”

Of all the housemates, KRK thinks Bakhtiyar Irani to be a sincere person, but would want Pravesh to win the Bigg Boss title! “If not me then I would want Pravesh to win. He is very true by heart and doesn’t believe in bitching. But now I am going as wild card entry so you never know...
