Indian team both men and Women won their respective matches against Canada and England to Win the Second World Cup Kabaddi Final. Winner Men’s team got Rs. 2 crores and Women’s team got Rs.25 lakhs.

Shahrukh Khan was in Ludhiana to promote his upcoming film RA.ONE. Shahrukh Khan entertained the crowd present at the Westend Mall Ludhiana for about an hour. This was Shahrukh’s maiden visit to the Ludhiana i.e the Industrial hub of Punjab.

Shahrukh made the audience dance to the latest numbers of his film RA.ONE. Later he selected some children and gave them chance to dance with him on the stage. He left only after getting a promise from the audience to watch the film RAONE when it releases this Diwali.
This is not the first time that a bollywood star has come to Punjab for promotion of his film. Earlier Aamir khan also attended a wedding in a village in Punjab for promoting 3-idiots. Ludhianvis enjoyed the evening to the max.

Q1. What made you go into Modelling?

Ans: Well there is an Interesting story behind it. When I studying in 12th standard I met with an accident and was bed ridden for about three months. During those days just to kill time I used to watch a lot of TV programmes and saw a music video aired on Punjabi Channels whose Model looked similar to me. It motivated me so much that somehow I wanted to see myself on TV. Thats how all this happened!!

Q2. Who's your Mentor/Role Model in Modelling Industry?

Ans: Once I made up my mind to move into Modelling I started meeting various directors/producers etc but was initially rejected by all of them. The more number of times I was rejected, the more desperate I became to make my presence felt in modelling world. So one fine day I happen to met Navraj Raja who is presently one of the finest Music video Directors of Punjab and he gave me my first break, and has been since my role model and godfather in Modelling Industry.

Q3. Any Model or Actor you love watching the most?

Ans: It has to be Arjun Rampal and Milind Soman, both of them are just amazing, I always cherish watching them.

Q4. Who acted as your driving force during your struggling days?

Ans: As it is always said there Is a women behind every successful man, same is the case with me. While I was pursuing my BBA from PCTE Ludhiana my Instructor Mrs. Harpreet kang kept me motivated enough to do something big in life. I can never forget the help and support I got from her during my college days and where-ever I am today a lot of credit goes to her.

Initially people did not pay much heed to this group but slowly Surinderpal with the help of his friends managed to attract audience. And now it has become a huge community, with people posting new and old punjabi Bolis everyday making it an encyclopaedia of Punjabi Boliyan.

Q1. What made you start this group?

I have been doing bhangra since my school age and won various awards at school and college level Folk Dance competitions. I had a Passion for Folk Dance, Traditional Punjabi culture from long time and wanted to promote it anyway.

But recently I noticed that western culture and hip-hop music is getting more famous and popular among youngsters which lately started shadowing our Punjabi Traditions and Cultural Values among them. So I started this group and added few of my crew members so that we can share and post boliyan daily and learn or find easily at one place.

Q2. How people reacted initially?

When I created this page there were only few Punjabi pages and less number of Punjabi's on facebook, but I kept on posting daily 1-2 boliyan. Only few people used to comment on my posts. It took almost 1 month to grow fan members to 100 people. Later on I along with Bolis also started posting pictures of Punjab specially Village, Folk Instruments and Videos of Bhangra and Gidha to which people showed lot of interest.

Q3. How do you feel now?

It's great feeling to be a part/owner of famous Punjabi cultural Page on facebook. From starting till now I have been showing respect to others and in return they made me feel so special with their love and care shown for this community. This page has helped a lot of people in finding Boliyan's for their competitions, family functions and others.

Q4. Future plans for this group?

In future I am planning to make a folk cultural website which would contain complete information about Punjabi culture, Boliyan Videos of Bhangra etc and also might start a Punjabi Organization or Centre for learning Folk dance .

A Punjabi Film that has not only made Punjabis proud but the whole nation is basking in its glory is the Punjabi Film Anne Ghode Da Daan. Recently Anne Ghode Da Daan was showcased at the Venice Film Festival.

The director of the film is Gurvinder Singh and the story of the film is based on a Novel of same name by legendary Punjabi writer Gurdial Singh.
Star cast includes Theatre Artists like Mal Singh, Samuel John, Serbjeet Kaur, Dharminder Kaur, Emmanuel Singh, Kulwinder Kaur, Lakha Singh and Gurvinder Makhna. Some of the actors in the film are ordinary people from the village(s) where the shooting was held, this has helped the film to be more closer to the reality.

Film Anne Ghode Da Daan is based on the on the so-called Dalit theme. The film has been produced by the Indian National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and was shot mostly in Bathinda earlier this year(2010). It consists all non-professional local Punjabi cast except the one main role played by Samuel John of Patiala. Story is about a young Dalit boy’s fight for justice and search for the meaning of his and his community’s existence.

Punjabi Singer Sukhbir will feature in Punjabi Film “Pata Ni Rabb Kehdeyan Rangan Ch Raazi” which is expected to be the Biggest Musical of the year. Sukhbir came to limelight with his dancing number “Ishq Tera Tadpaawe” which is still his most popular song and will bounce back in punjabi music industry with this film.

Lahore is the city where Katrian Kaif is searched the most number of times. Not only Katrina Kaif other Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are searched more number of times in Pakistan than anywhere else in the world.

Punjabi Film Yaara-O-Dildaara starring Harbhajan Maan, Tulip Joshi, Jonita Doda, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal is releasing on 12th August. It will be released two weeks after Jihne Mera Dil Luteya which is releasing on 29th July. Difference of two weeks has been desperately kept to avoid division of audience.

Punjabi Singer Jasbir Jassi recently visited Cannes Film Festival to promote his upcoming Punjabi Film Khushiyaan. Khushiyaan is Jasbir Jassi’s maiden Punjabi film as a hero, he has also worked in a supporting role along with Harbhajan Maan in Heer Ranjha.

Heroine of Khushiyaan is Tisca Chopra who also accompanied Jassi for the promotional tour at Cannes. Not only promotion of film Khushiyaan, Jassi also performed at an event on the sidelines of the main Film Festival.
